In 2015, Missoula County began taking critical steps in addressing important issues facing our community: jail overcrowding and over-incarceration/inappropriate incarceration. These are complex issues that require community input and strategic, evidence-based programming to begin seeing sustainable results.
The following documents are essential components of the county's jail diversion efforts, including efforts aimed at addressing mental health in our community, as mentally ill individuals are often a large portion of the inappropriately incarcerated population.
